New UpstARTs Artists

Once again, the Belleville Art Association Gallery at 392 Front Street, Belleville, is exhibiting the work of 3 outstanding young artists from Hastings and Prince Edward County secondary schools. At our recent reception, Nick Boretski, from Nicholson Catholic College, was present to chat with visitors and share his skillful graphite drawing, “Dave Craig’s Chevy”. Nick charmed his audience with the story behind the drawing, and was a refreshing representative of today’s young people.
Other fine work was displayed by Wendy Wen and Shannon Schutt. Wendy, who attends Moira Secondary School, is showing an exquisite copperplate etching entitled “Eiffel Tower”, and Shannon, from North Hastings High School, is exhibiting an intriguing collage called “The Boy in Glasses”. These three artworks will be displayed at the gallery until Feb. 11. Be sure to drop in to the gallery to see them, and vote for your favourite. The People’s Choice will award one of these three artists, and all three will be part of the spring Gala awards night.
