I Believe in Music

Susan Walker is a member of the BAA and asked to have this forwarded on….certainly a great cause!

Dear Friends

Please consider attending this upcoming concert by the A Capella Singers, formerly The Trentones. The concert is usually excellent and every year they choose a different charity to support. This year we are very pleased they have chosen to have the Quinte Grannies for Africa join them as their charity, and they are donating $5 of every ticket that the grannies sell back to us, and we shall give it to the Stephen Lewis Foundation to help African Grandmothers who are raising their orphaned grandchildren. We are so pleased they asked us to help them promote their concert, so now we have to help them fill the hall! I have as many tickets as needed and will be happy to sell them to any of you who are interested.

Many thanks and I hope to hear from lots of you!

Sincerely

Sue Walker

Call for Entry – Quinte Region Secondary School Student Artists

Dear Secondary School Art Educators of the Quinte Region,

In partnership with Art Galleries and Art Educators in the Quinte Region, the BDIA invite Quinte and
Area Secondary School student artists, of all forms of media, to participate in our first juried exhibition of original artwork. We are accepting submissions of poetry, song, dance, painting, photography and sculpture.

Critical to the success of this show is student participation.  We understand that the way to reach art students is through their teachers, so we are asking you to talk with your students about the Event and its need for entries.  Every student  who submits an entry to the art show has a chance to win an “I Phone ” just for entering.

As all entries must be submitted to the BDIA office, at 267 Front Street by Friday, April 20th, it is
imperative that students be made aware of this opportunity to create and enter their art. Three jurors will participate, and monetary awards will be presented. All students who enter their artwork are eligible to win an Iphone, and there will be opportunities to mentor with experienced artists, enjoy an
Art Walk and buskers with family and friends.

Entry forms are available at local high schools and the John M. Parrott Art Gallery or can be downloaded from www.quinteartscouncil.org or www.rediscsoverdowntown.ca .

The Opening Reception will take place on the evening of May 3rd at the Bohemian Penguin Hall.  Art expressions that are accepted by the jurors, will be displayed in downtown windows throughout
May, with the provision for students to sell their work.

Thank you for your assistance with this exciting event. We look forward to receiving entries from secondary school students throughout the Quinte
Region.

History in Brushstrokes

Many thanks to Sandi Marrow for reformatting this poster so that I could post it on the blog.  (We’re finding a way around ’interesting’ issues.) The newest exhibit at the BAA gallery is outstanding, and will be of great interest to both art-lovers and history-lovers.
