Marilyn Kelley

Artist

After retiring in 2016 as a professional portrait photographer, Marilyn decided to dedicate more time to her other hobby – painting in watercolour.  She particularly enjoys rendering old buildings and animals, and has tried a hand at re-creating in watercolour some of the landscape photography she has accumulated over the years.

When her children were young, Marilyn took a number of short night courses in drawing and painting, but after moving to the Belleville area from York Region, she discovered that art became more of a passion. Focusing on watercolour, she has been fortunate to study under Ron Pickering, Donna Bonin, Reta Brooks, Joan Reive and Marg MacIntyre, and has taken Loyalist College courses with Marc Gagnon, Hy Sook Barker, Annie Bretshnieder and Sharlena Wood. For the last number of years, she has enjoyed painting on a weekly basis with the Group of Eleven in Stirling, and is currently exploring painting with pan pastels.
