I am a retired interior designer who began painting about 10 years ago. I have always been a creative person but my journey really began when my father gave me a Minolta SLR at 20 when I was on my way to an 8 month trip to Europe and Asia.
For me painting is an extension of photography in the way that I aproach a scene. Whether it is the light, a certain pattern or texture or a striking composition, that is where I start. From there I use Photoshop to determine the exact composition and size and continue on to a sketch and watercolour study.
I paint with oil on canvas or panel depending on the size.
My hope is that my paintings invite viewers to pause and reflect.
