I am Mohawk, and I reside on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory in Ontario, Canada. Photography entered my life in my early twenties as a quiet companion—a way to capture fleeting moments during travels and family gatherings.
Everything changed in 2017, when a stroke left me with a diminished memory. My camera became more than just a camera—it became a daily means to assist my memory and to help me deal effectively with my disability. Over time, this practice evolved into something deeper: a way to create art, to tell stories, and to explore meaning through images.
Today, my photographs reflect both intention and curiosity. I gravitate toward minimalism or simplicity in my images, stripping away clutter to reveal clarity. My current projects centre on four themes that speak to my identity and my sense of place:
These subjects allow me to weave narratives that are both personal and universal—sometimes they are presented together, sometimes standing alone. Through my lens, I seek not only to create but to invite reflection: on memory, on belonging, and on the delicate balance between people and the world around us.
